| dc.description.abstract | En esta investigación abordaremos los pormenores de la vida del religioso Rodrigo González de Marmolejos y su nombramiento como obispo de Santiago de Chile. De este modo plantearemos la hipótesis sobre la legitimidad o no, que tuvo el primer prelado de Santiago de Chile, Rodrigo González de Marmolejos. El análisis pormenorizado de la documentación primaria, principalmente la conservada en el Archivo General de Indias, y la documentación publicada, nos lleva a plantear dudas razonables sobre el gobierno del obispo. Además, añadiremos los interrogantes propios, surgidos del estudio de las redes clientelares que sustentaron el poder del prelado y los intereses para con el religioso. El interrogante sobre la legitimidad o no como prelado de Rodrigo González de Marmolejos, nos lleva a plantear; que el primer obispo de Chile no fue González de Marmolejos. | |
| dc.description.abstracten | This research will examine the details of the life of the religious Rodrigo González de Marmolejos and his appointment as bishop of Santiago de Chile. This study will examine the veracity of the claims regarding the legi-timacy of the first prelate of Santiago de Chile, Rodrigo González de Marmolejos. A detailed analysis of the primary source material, mainly that preserved in the General Archive of the Indias, along with the published documentation, leads us to raise reasonable suspicion of the bishop's governance. Moreover, we will conduct our own inquiries, derived from an examination of the clientele networks that sustained the prelate's authority and interests with regard to the religious. The question of the legitimacy of Rodrigo González de Marmolejos as a prelate leads us to conclude that the first bishop of Chile was not González de Marmolejos. | |
