La diversidad cautiva en la interculturalidad de la política de educación intercultural chilena

dc.description.abstractEl aumento sostenido de población extranjera que experimenta Chile desde hace ya más de dos décadas como producto de los flujos migratorios tiene especial importancia en el contexto educativo por la incorporación de un número cada vez mayor de estudiantes inmigrantes en las salas de clases. Realidad que visibiliza aún más la diversidad social y cultural presente desde siempre y en aumento desde el último tiempo en el espacio educativo. En este artículo analizamos, a través de una revisión bibliográfica, las limitaciones que subyacen en el enfoque de interculturalidad en el Programa de Educación Intercultural Bilingüe (PEIB), para dar respuesta a los problemas de la educación en contexto de diversidad social y cultural. Sostenemos que el sentido de interculturalidad presente en la política de educación intercultural desarrollada por el Estado chileno no propicia un enfoque de diversidad social y cultural amplio, que permita visibilizar la presencia de otras sociedades, culturas y lenguas presentes al interior del mismo territorio, como es el caso de la población inmigrante, al quedar reducida a la ‘población indígena’ como una forma de dar respuesta a sus demandas y no a la interrelación entre las distintas culturas presentes en el país. dc.description.abstractThe sustained increase in foreign population that Chile has experienced for more than two decades due to migratory flows has a special importance in the educational context by the incorporation of an increasing number of immigrant students in the classrooms. Reality that makes even more visible the social and cultural diversity present since always and increasing since the last time in the educational space. In this article, we analyze, through a bibliographical review, the limitations that underlie the intercultural approach in the PEIB, to respond to the problems of education in the context of social and cultural diversity. We maintain that the intercultural sense present in the intercultural education policy developed by the Chilean State does not foster a broad social and cultural diversity approach that allows the presence of other societies, cultures and languages present within the same territory to be made visible. The case of the immigrant population, being reduced to the 'indigenous population' as a way to respond to their demands and not to the interrelation between the different cultures present in the country. We conclude that the sense of interculturality in the PEIB is something to be built, rather than builten_US
