Gender violence is a phenomenon that affects society. For that reason, this essay focuses on the following two objectives: a) discuss the importance of addressing moral reasoning around patriarchal culture in formal education; and b) expose the relationship between moral education in terms of human rights and the emotional dimension of apprentices. For the discussion on the role of moral reasoning, the contributions of Lawrence Kohlberg's theory of moral development are included. Later, the role that feelings would have in moral education and a proposal of education based on love are exposed. It is concluded that it is essential to address moral reasoning to prevent gender-based violence, but it must be an activity complemented by virtuous practice around human rights.
