Abstract
Los grandes cambios que el mundo ha vivido en las últimas décadas han destruido muros y eliminado fronteras. Los ciudadanos adquieren un poder inimaginado hace unos años. La información fluye libremente. En este contexto donde la globalización alcanza de polo a polo, nada queda fuera, ni siquiera aquellas instituciones con siglos de existencia, como las universidades. Antes lo local era lo habitual, y lo internacional, la excepción. Ahora los avances tecnológicos han llevado a cuestionar la mirada local de las instituciones de educación superior, su gobernanza y su nivel de apertura. Aparece como elemento clave la generación de redes, que se transforma en una oportunidad para agregar valor a la formación de las personas, a la creación de conocimiento y a la innovación. Pero para lograrlo, las universidades necesitan abrirse al entorno y entrar en un nuevo paradigma estratégico. La apuesta por la internacionalización universitaria que se observa, es una muestra de esta nueva articulación.
