Abstract
El problema que aquí se aborda se relaciona con los conocimientos culturales mapuches actuales asociados a la producción de colorantes vegetales. El objetivo es evaluar los tintes vegetales empleados en la cultura mapuche como colorantes vitales, para contribuir a una didáctica de las ciencias naturales basada en conocimientos educativos mapuches que favorezca la educación intercultural. La metodología empleada es descriptiva, con base en entrevistas semiestructuradas, con análisis de contenidos apoyado en el programa Atlas–ti. Los resultados aportan una base de conocimiento que permitirá mejorar la calidad de la enseñanza y el aprendizaje en ciencias naturales en contextos de escuelas rurales con estudiantes mapuches y no mapuches, respetando y valorando las diferencias culturales.
The problem this article tackles is to be related with the current mapuche cultural knowledge associated to the production of vegetable–based colors. The purpose is to evaluate the vegetable dyes that are used in mapuche culture as vital colors in order to contribute to a new didactic approach to science based on mapuche knowledge able to encourage the intercultural education. The methodology the authors made use of is descriptive, based on semistructured interviews with content analysis supported by the Atlas–ti program. The results provide a knowledge base that will allow to improve the quality of teaching and learning in science, above all in rural schools with mapuche and other students, with respect and appraisal of the cultural differences.
